On May 2, 2014, Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, California, hosted a community open house for the new $275 million, four-story Pavilion owned by Dignity Health. The 104-bed Pavilion Addition, designed by Moon Mayoras, features eight new operation room suites, six cardiovascular suites, and three floors of large, residential-feeling private rooms designed to comply with state legislation requiring seismic upgrades to various hospitals throughout California. The new facility also houses the Heart and Vascular Institute, Center for Total Joint Replacement, a catheterization lab, and a hybrid operating room. The weekend-long grand opening celebration included a ribbon cutting, a family day event, and tours of the new facility, including displays of the new patient and operating rooms, with music, food, and raffles.
