The Lucy Curci Cancer Center combines all comprehensive outpatient cancer services at one convenient, fully integrated location.  Patients in need of a wide range of cancer treatment options can receive radiation therapy, stereotactic radiotherapy to the brain, high dose rate radiation therapy, 3-D conformalradiation therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, gene therapy, autologous bone marrow transplant, anti-angiogenesis drugs, momclonal antibodies, genetic testing, clinical trials, and other cancer care-related services.

In accordance with the essence of Scripps Mercy Health System, ScrippsHealth New Mercy Clinic provides quality health care to low income patients.

This existing 1973 four-story building was renovated to house registration at grade level with the third floor providing outpatient services to adults and the fourth floor dedicated to separate pediatric and obstetrical service.  The outpatient clinic provides specialty services such as general radiology, vision and dental components.

The entire exterior skin received a facelift through the use of bold colors, accent tile and metal trim at the entry and new patient elevator tower.  The image is in concert and blends with the upscale Hillcrest neighborhood.  The intent was to provide a visual link between Hillcrest and ScrippsHealth Mercy Hospital.

The Del E. Webb and Eisenhower Primary Care Center is a project developed in partnership between Eisenhower Medical Center and the Del E. Webb Corporation.

This 11,000 square foot satellite Primary Care Facility is equipped with 10 exam rooms with future growth of 14 exam rooms.  The exam rooms are divided by a central support core.  A general radiology room was designed for convenient access from the waiting room or from the exam rooms.  The facility also provides urgent care and occupational health services.

The Center is located within the Sun City retirement community.  The architecture of the building design needed to reflect the design characteristics of the existing community.

The Family Health Center represents approximately 8,000 square feet and accommodates parking for approximately 50 vehicles. The functional space program consists of 12 examination rooms, 1 procedure room, a lab/specimen-drawing area, outpatient registration and offices/support spaces

The primary design challenge for this project was to create a neighborhood presence. By maintaining somewhat more neutral “street” views to both Jamacha Road and Helix Street and tying them to the more playful “internal” experience once onsite.

This facility consists of the Primary Care Clinic component, located adjacent to the Entry/Pedestrian Atrium, which also serves as a vertical element to segregate the clinic from the public Waiting/Registration and Play areas. The Atrium consists of not only public space, but also of an interior garden zone, which symbolically serves as a transitional space from the public (Waiting/Registration) to the private (Clinic) areas. The profusion of indirect natural light in the Atrium and Waiting areas, as well as the expansive view window to the south, creates a sense of well-being through the use of “healing elements.”

A new Chapel at Scripps Mercy Hospital will serve as a place of worship, religious sanctuary and a quiet place for meditation, welcoming all denominations.

The Water Wall Fountain will both greet and soothe with the sound of water as one enters the chapel sanctuary. The Prayer wall presents a unique opportunity for both patients and staff. This is a place where prayers can be written and offered for loved ones. The River of Life has been an inspiring symbol of healing and transformation throughout time and is acknowledged in the design of both the stained glass wall and the tile floor design.

The new Stacey and Greg Renker Pavilion is the next phase in Eisenhower Medical Center's commitment to providing an overall therapeutic and healing environment campus wide. This facility is specially designed to provide discreet care for prominent dignitaries, politicians, celebrities, and other highly visible individuals for whom privacy requirements represent a major element of their healing process. 

The Renker Pavilion consists of 24 private inpatient beds and associated amenities as follows:

• Guest Business Center

• Library

• Private Dining Room

• Lounge/Meditation Room

• Gourmet Kitchen

The Renker Pavilion is designed to provide ready access to the Eisenhower Medical Center Ancillary/Diagnostic Treatment services and the new Emergency Department expansion below via a dedicated elevator.

The existing bed tower consisted of four isolated and outdated 15-bed "pods" attached to a central circulation "spine".  MMA modified the bed tower to provide optimum functional reuse in the present managed care / health care system environment.  The masterplan realigns the site circulation in order to separate patient, staff, service and emergency access points.
