Moon Mayoras Architects, Inc. is currently looking for aspiring individuals to join our team of successful professionals to work on large hospital projects in the Western United States:

The Senior Project Designer (“SPD”) will have at least 10 years of comprehensive design experience with healthcare experience as a bonus.  The SPD recognizes that technical complexity is a design challenge in itself, and finds the growth and change in the healthcare industry genuinely compelling.  He or she may have already developed a specialty within healthcare architecture and continually seek to upgrade their knowledge.  

This is a position of significance within the firm.  The SPD must have the skills to conceptualize and work within a team spirit, as well as work with user groups and maintain strong client relationships, while contributing to a design process that doesn’t just satisfy requirements but make a real contribution to the clients' operation.   With a solid understanding of the design process, the SPD will be involved in the overall master planning/programming and the design and medical planning of medium to large scale healthcare facilities throughout the Southwest and Pacific Northwest states.   The SPD must have an interest in new technologies and research, report writing, and giving presentations.  The SPD works closely with clients and user groups as well as the other members of the design team.  

Requirements for the Position:

  • 10 to 15+ years experience in programming, planning and design.

  • Experience with a wide range of technical projects of various sizes, types and complexity.

  • Architectural degree preferred.

  • Excellent understanding of working as a team member.

  • Strong capability to communicate planning concepts verbally and through graphic/written reports.

  • Ability to meet successfully with user groups to collect programmatic and operational efficiency needs.

  • Ability to convey design issues to other team members.

  • Excellent listening skills.

  • Ability to handle difficult situations diplomatically.

 

The onsite Construction Administrator ("CA") will be responsible for coordination of the architectural discipline with the Owner, sub-consultants, outside consultants, and the general contractor for a major healthcare project located in the Coachella Valley area.  The CA will work and coordinate his/her work directly under the supervision of the onsite Senior Construction Administrator, and will perform administration of the construction contract directly from the field office. Furthermore, the candidate will also interact with various agencies having jurisdiction, including but not limited to the State of California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) . 

Other responsibilities include working with inspectors, preparing post-approval documents and providing project closeout documentation/procedures, responding to Requests for Information, Submittal/Shop Drawing Review, and the documentation/processing of Change Orders. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication, organizational and document control skills who thoroughly understands the construction process and interacts well with the team, while working in a fast paced environment.

Experience of 10 to 15 years as an Architect and/or Construction Administrator working in the U.S. is required. Professional experience with large scale healthcare projects within the last two years is a necessity, and familiarity with building and life safety codes with an emphasis on California OSHPD regulations is a plus.  A Bachelor /Master of Architecture degree from a NAAB accredited program, or equivalent is expected, architectural license is a plus.  The CA team utilizes MS Access, Word, Excel and Prolog, an internet based construction program.
 

The Senior Job Captain is responsible for planning, producing DD and CD drawings as well as coordinating and overseeing work performed by other drafting staff. 

The Job Captain assists in the processing of documents through regulatory agency reviews and conducts field surveys where required. Qualified candidates should have a Bachelors degree or a formal training (A.S. degree in architectural technology ) and at least 5 years experience as an Architectural Senior Job Captain working in the U.S. Candidates should have an excellent understanding of architectural and inter-discipline drawing coordination, a willingness to learn and ultimately accept additional responsibility in this area. AutoCAD and MS Office skills are necessary. This position will require coordination with consultants and Project Architects/Project Managers to manage the work flow of drawing production. 

Professional experience with large projects is necessary and familiarity with healthcare facilities is desired. Strong knowledge of building codes and life safety issues is essential; exposure to California OSHPD regulations would be a plus.
